7 Days Machame Route
Kilimanjaro’s Most Scenic and Rewarding Climb
INTRODUCTION
The 7 Days Machame Route, famously known as the “Whiskey Route”, is the most popular and most scenic route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers dramatic landscapes, varied terrain, and excellent acclimatization, making it a top choice for trekkers seeking a challenging yet highly rewarding Kilimanjaro experience.
Approaching the mountain from the south, the route passes beneath the Southern Ice Fields, crosses iconic landmarks such as the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, and Barranco Wall, and makes its summit attempt from Barafu Camp.
While more physically demanding than the Marangu Route, the extra acclimatization days significantly improve summit success rates. For many climbers, Machame represents the classic Kilimanjaro adventure.

I completed 6-days trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route with Kili Sky Trekking in November 2025, accompanied by my three sisters. We successfully reached the top, and the entire experience was truly unforgettable. We greatly appreciated the company's additional offerings, including a free cultural tour and coffee processing tour, which added so much value to our adventure—completely free of charge. Special thanks to Mrs. Frank and the entire team for their professionalism, support, and dedication.
